1622 was the year the Brentwood School statutes were signed - declaring that pupils should be instructed in Virtue, Learning and Manners, these values are still held today. The 1622 Club is about creating access to our wonderful institution based on a student's talent, not their financial circumstance. An ambitious ideal that is in keeping with our values and mission of the Foundation.
Whether as a group or individually the 1622 Club is about funding a transformative bursary place.
The Inaugural 1622 Club bursary was funded in 2022 with a group of 13 supporters, collectively funding a bursary place annually.
Joining the 1622 Club can take many forms, but offers the opportunity for any individual or group to know their support is funding a specific full bursary place every year. We ask any 1622 club bursary commits to at least two years of funding.
However, the hope is that you or your group are able to make it an ongoing commitment with funding for a full place each year in perpetuity. This way the bursary can become an integral part of the School and Foundation:
The bursary will be formally awarded/renewed each year
You will be updated on the progress of your bursary student (obviously anonymous)
The bursary will be awarded through our rigorous selection process
While this presents a wonderful direct route for a major donor to fund a bursary, it also allows any groups in the Brentwood School community to join together and make a huge impact collectively. These groups could take any form:
A given society or network group
An OB sports or social club
A parent or OB year group
There is great power in this collective giving. For example, if a group of 20 OB friends of 1998 leavers came together and committed to a DD of £80 a month each, with gift aid, that would fund a full bursary place to Brentwood School! For less than a gym membership you’d be funding a place and creating an exponential impact of everything that bursary award student goes on to achieve.

1662 Corporate Partnership is a commercial version of the Foundations 1622 Club. This partnership presents the opportunity for a business to support bursary places at Brentwood School, and to be promoted as one of the Foundation partner companies.
To become a 1622 Corporate Partner, we ask you to kindly fund a full bursary place every year in perpetuity with the partnership. These transformational places are at the heart of the Foundation and School:
Every year you would be funding a student who would otherwise be unable to afford a Brentwood School education.
In return for your support, we would like to work closely together on promoting our 1622 Corporate partners on the Brentwood School Association website, through newsletters and social media as well as at our annual Career Convention in March. Also, explore opportunities to work with the School and our Careers Department on work experience, speaking and placements.
By joining the 1622 Corporate, you are becoming an important part of the Brentwood School network, working with the School in a mutually beneficial partnership. We are keen for Old Brentwoods, parents and friends of the School to know the people and businesses supporting the Foundation and we are proud to work with companies who share our values and vision:
