Mrs. Alice Goodfellow, previously Deputy head, Staffing, Co-Curricular and Operations at Brentwood’s senior school, has been appointed Head of Brentwood Preparatory School from September.
She has already been closely involved with the Prep, teaching religious education and leading developments across the 3-18 age range, including teaching and learning, staff development and sport.
Before going into teaching, Mrs. Goodfellow worked as a policy advisor on climate change and sustainability at what is w the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
She was Assistant Head at Hendon School and then Vice Principal for teaching and learning at the UCL Academy in Camden. She joined Brentwood School in 2019.
Mrs Goodfellow holds two master’s degrees: in globalisation and post-national communication from the School of Oriental and African Studies; and in education from the UCL Institute of Education. As a member of the assessment board for the Chartered College of Teaching, she stays up to date with developments in high quality teaching.
Lord Black, Chairman of Brentwood School Governors, said: “we have appointed an outstanding leader and academic who will continue to build on the stewardship of Jason Whiskerd. Headmaster Michael Bond added: “Having worked closely with Alice Goodfellow over the past five years, I can think of no one better to take over from Mr. Whiskerd after his distinguished tenure.”
