Speech Day 2023

Another year has come and gone, which means another Speech Day held at Brentwood School. 

Speech Day 2023 saw 250+ prizes given out to students for their academic and co-curricular endeavours and achievements. 

The Old Brentwoods’ prizes are always at the heart of this annual celebration, standing out from many other awards as these are handed out for students’ values and character. The 2023 OB awards are as follows:

• The Society of Old Brentwoods’ Prize for Virtue, Learning and Manners: Martha M
• The Society of Old Brentwoods’ Prize for Virtue, Learning and Manners: Joseph P
• The Society of Old Brentwoods’ Prize for Virtue, Learning and Manners: Duaa S
• The Society of Old Brentwoods’ Prize for Virtue, Learning and Manners: Toby W
• The Old Brentwoods’ Masonic Lodge Award for Pillar in the School Community: Sophie P

This years’ Guest of Honour was Peter Apps (OB 1988-1999), an inspiring individual who is currently a captain in the British Army and writing a book on NATO to be published for its 75th anniversary next year. 

Peter gave a wonderful speech to students, telling his personal story from Brentwood School days to the adventures beyond. Peter has a fascinating career and life to date, with a tragic event in his early twenties, which required him to overcome huge adversity and to reinvent himself.
