Following the recent full Governor's meeting, at which the School's long term strategy was discussed, and with the growing student numbers in mind, September 2022 will see some exciting additions to the House system through the introduction of four new day Houses in the Senior School. These Houses will join the existing Houses: North; South; East; West; Weald; and School House (made up of Mill Hill House & Hough House).
The House system significantly contributes to important aspects of student experience: it creates a sense of community and belonging; it provides leadership opportunities through its vertical nature; it is a medium for charity and service; it generates many co-curricular opportunities in which students can represent their House; and it supports the School's pastoral work.
As a result of adding four new Houses, each House community will have student numbers that ensure it can meet all the aims listed above. We hope that you have found memories of your House whilst you were at Brentwood. Older OBs may remember - fondly or otherwise! - former houses Otway, Old House and Newnum.
The School's Senior Leadership team is inviting people from all parts of the Brentwood School community to suggest name ideas for the new Houses and as OB’s you are a key part of the community.
As these new Houses will be around for a very long time they need to have names befitting of such prominence, names the students can be proud of. For these reasons, please include a clear rationale for your name ideas. All ideas need to be submitted via this House Name Ideas Google Form. Please do pass this on to any other OBs who may be interested in contributing ideas.
The deadline for giving ideas is the 7th March and the chosen House names will be announced in the Trinity term.
