Abi Smith (OB 2003-10) is looking to produce her first film later this year - but could do with some funding help from any OBs with an interest in the genre.

The short film called Bluebird is set in London over a 24 hour period and is a candid and brutally honest story about a young woman who is looking for love and acceptance in all the wrong places. It is a powerful, unapologetic story about the hypersexualistion girls and women face.

This link https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/bluebird-short-film#/ gives a detailed look into the film she hopes to make and also has a list of incredible opportunities up for grabs (including being an extra and shadowing the film's director!) for those wishing to assist. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated by Abi and every penny will make a difference!

Abi's production company, Rooted Studio, was founded in 2020 as a creative and visual response to the year that nobody expected. With years of experience in fashion and the creative world, Abi Smith and Prince Plockey joined forces to form Rooted Studio with the aim to present challenging and thought-provoking visuals that represent, inspire and champion what it means to be 'other'. It is is a collective of all shapes, sizes and colours.

Abi comments "As our first short, it's an absolute honour to pair with Beneath the Shade Productions and Isla Jackson-Ritchie to bring Bluebird to life. We want to make the best film possible and with the resources and talents that we share, we know we're going to make a sick film".
