Murder Mystery Magic
OB takes on killer comedic role in spoof Murder Mystery
Lewis Bruniges (OB 2006-13) has just finished treading the boards for a short run in an innovative fundraising play at The Park Theatre, London in “Whodunnit [Unrehearsed]”, a murder mystery spoof where a different celebrity in each performance stepped in as the Inspector without any rehearsal and without ever having seen the script!!
The ‘guest’ had their lines fed to them live onstage via an earpiece as they attempted to crack the case, avoid the furniture and stagger their way to justice. The writer was fortunate to see star of ‘Homeland’ and ‘Billions’, Damien Lewis, in the policing role. Our own Lewis turned in a performance full of comedy, and anger, as Jack Watt (the gardener who has feelings for the Lord of the Manor’s daughter) often only just managing to avoid the giggles as the improvisation by - and the surprises thrown at - the Inspector unfolded.
Lewis’s next play is a little closer to home at The Queen’s Theatre in Hornchurch from 7th - 28th September in “So Here We Are”, a fast moving, witty play about Essex Boys and their hopes, dreams & frustrations...”.
