One Spoonful at a Time

After having spent 50 years in the dispensing of good honest financial advice, John Shorter (OB 1955-61) has decided to commit to paper. His motivation was to capture for the advantage of his readers some of the salutary lessons which he experienced and from which he benefited throughout his long career. 'The world is comprised of givers and takers.' - John is firmly in the former category. He is a great believer in providing help and assistance to anyone in business and is well-known for it in his sphere of influence. He wanted to get down on paper some of these ideas and concepts while they were fresh in his mind.  

John is acutely aware that 'running your own show' is not easy. Sadly, a very large number of very talented people who start out with  huge enthusiasm and the best of intentions fall by the wayside. Starting up a business of your own from scratch is a daunting prospect no  matter how positive and optimistic you may be as an individual. John is passionate about helping people to learn from his experiences thereby avoiding the inevitable waste of time which comes with going through the same ones yourself. Although he sold his business in 2012, he retains an abiding interest in helping others to climb the ladder to success in their particular field -  whatever that field happens to be. He felt that in this increasingly unstable, unpredictable and challenging world, the role of the bold entrepreneur is more important to the overall prosperity of a country than ever. Hence this book came into existence.
