Why have you decided to take part in the challenge?
This kind of challenge is right up my street and I had a wonderful time on the trip last year. It was incredibly tough, but the feeling of achievement at the end was something else. This year I am determined to do some cycling, as I chickened out last year, being a complete novice! I also feel strongly that talented students from all backgrounds should have access to an excellent education, and I believe that our Bursary Scheme will help ensure these individuals have the confidence and knowledge to make a difference in the world.
Can you give us some insight into your training regime
I do a lot of running and I have just signed up for my first ever marathon - I will need to do some training runs during the Hike & Bike trip. I have no experience of cycling but plan to train this summer for the first time so that I can complete my longest ever cycle in Snowdonia! I don't love climbing mountains and I am not at all good at the scramble down afterwards - all my training is on the flat usually. So that'll be fun!
