The Lent Term sees the largest event of the school’s musical calendar take place in the form of the Choral & Symphonic Gala Concert in Brentwood Cathedral on Thursday 27th March. At this stage, I am delighted to announce that the school’s combined choirs will be performing Duruflé’s Requiem - one of the greatest works of music of the last century - and we are thrilled to invite you to take part! The involvement of parents, staff, OBs, and singers from the local community made this concert incredibly special last year and I am thrilled that we are able to offer this opportunity once again.
There is no audition process and no pre-existing note-reading or singing ability is required; if you have always wondered what being part of a Brentwood School concert would be like (or want to take part in another one), enjoy performing, or want the opportunity to sing alongside your old teachers, then we would love to have you.
Rehearsals for the adult choir - which also includes staff and singers from the local community - will take place on the days below in March in the school’s music studio; if you are interested, please register using the button below. Please note that you are kindly asked to attend at least two out of the three weekend rehearsal dates as well as the rehearsal on the day of the concert.
Rehearsal schedule:
Saturday 1st March: 10:30am-2:30pm - Rehearsal in School Music Studio
Saturday 15th March: 10:30am-2:30pm - Rehearsal in School Music Studio
Sunday 23rd March: 10:30am-2:30pm - Rehearsal in School Music Studio (with pupils)
Thursday 27th March: 4:00pm - Rehearsal in Brentwood Cathedral for concert at 7:00pm.
This concert is a highlight of the school year and provides an opportunity for pupils and their supporters from across the school community to perform wonderful music in a fantastic venue alongside their friends, peers, and professional musicians. This is an incredible work to be taking on and I know that you will enjoy being part of the team!
Many thanks in advance for your support, and I look forward to meeting many of you (or seeing you again) in March. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch - cho@brentwood.essex.sch.uk - or to sign up with your details please click on the yellow button below.
With best wishes,
Mr Chris O'Leary, Assistant Director of Music
